down the TBR hole

Down the TBR hole #5!

Web

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost In A Story (along with the pretty graphic!) The idea is to help slim down your Goodreads TBR, because we all know how large and endless that list becomes!

How it works:

→ Go to your Goodreads to be read shelf
→ Order on ascending date added
→ Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
→ Read the synopses of the books
→ Decide: keep it or should it go?

My 5 books:

  1. Who Fears Death : by Nnedi Okorafor
    • What even is this? Why do I not remember adding any of these books to my TBR, it’s like one day they just appeared, beckoning me to read them. Who Fears Death is a post apocalyptic Africa where genocide and plagues run rampant. A lot of trigger warnings later and a very dark story I feel like this one is a pass for me. Reviews I have read said it was hard for them to get through this because of how dark and gruesome the story was.
      • Judgement: GO
  2. Going Bovine : by Libba Bray
    • SO MANY reviewers said this book was a fail for them and they couldn’t get through it. I also was under the impression based on the title and the cover that this was going to be a story about not eating meat and the meat industry in general but it sounds more like a teenage boy gets sick and comes down with mad cow disease and has to go on a road trip to find a cure, and i just..
      • Judgement: GO
  3. Luna : by Julie Anne Peters
    • This book is short! Only 248 pages, and is over 12 years old. I feel like I would have liked this story about a transgender teen becoming who he really is had I read it back when it was published. Reviews are saying there was no depth to the characters and they felt disconnected to the story and I already feel that way without even reading it, character development is SO important to me.
      • Judgement: GO
  4. The 100 : by Kass Morgan
    • I’m too attached to the show to give the book a chance. I don’t want one to influence my opinion of the other at this point.
      • Judgement: GO
  5. The 100 – Day 21 : by Kass Morgan
    • Same.
      • Judgement: GO

That’s it for this week’s down the TBR hole! Another week where I managed to get rid of all 5 books on my list: Who Fears Death, Going Bovine, Luna, The 100, and The 100 – Day 21 are all gone from my Goodreads TBR now! See you next week for post #6!
