Top Ten Tuesday: Best Books I Read in 2018!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

Today’s prompt is for my top 10 books I read in 2018! I only read 64 books this year (I say only because I see a lot of people well over 100 and 624 just doesn’t seem like that many now!) I have bigger goals for myself in 2019!

Anyways, even with only 64 book read in 2018 I still had trouble narrowing down this list to only my top 10! I did decide to only include books that I read for the first time in 2018 because I had a lot of rereads this year (the entire Harry Potter and Throne of Glass series), and I wanted to showcase other books that were completely new to me!

10. Children of Blood and Bone : by Tomi Adeyemi

I loved the magic system and the beautiful world building! I can’t wait for book two coming out this year! You can read my full review here.

9 . The Hate U Give : by Angie Thomas

THIS IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT READ. GO READ IT. I unfortunately read this early in the year, before I made my blog, and therefore do not have a review.

8 .  The Poppy War : by R.F. Kuang

This is one of the best fantasy novels I have ever read, I absolutely devoured it and loved it. It’s dark and gritty, and full of war and political intrigue and opium smoking crazy teachers. Go read it. You can read my full review here.

7 .  Scythe : by Neal Shusterman

Scythe was a big surprise for me. I absolutely loved this book and its sequel Thunderhead. Now I’m just over her patiently twiddling my thumbs as I wait for the third book in the series to even be announced officially. You can find my full review here. Don’t judge my gif heavy post here, I was a newbie at posting reviews back then and had no idea what I was doing!IMG_20180912_112215_218

6 .  Crooked Kingdom: by Leigh Bardugo

This whole series is incredible. I need to do a reread soon! I miss the Dregs and all of their shenanigans. I unfortunately read this early in the year, before I made my blog, and therefore do not have a review.

5 .  A Darker Shade of Magic: by V.E. Schwab

This one really took me by surprise by how AMAZING it is! The world building is absolutely incredible and the story is like nothing I have read before. I need to get on the sequels asap! I unfortunately read this early in the year, before I made my blog, and therefore do not have a review.

4 .  Illuminae : by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Holy god I went on a jOURNEY with this book, and the sequel Gemina! I listened to the audiobook while also reading the physical book at the same time and it made the experience.. phenomenal. I highly recommend pairing them together. You can read my full review here.

3 .  Kingdom of Ash : by Sarah J. Maas

How could I not include this beauty in my list? At 980 pages Kingdom of Ash was the perfect end to the Throne of Glass series. I am sad that one of my favorite series is ended now but I loved how it ended and thought the story got the ending it deserved. 2 .  The Cruel Prince : by Holly Black

This book was absolutely mind blowing. This was the first book I had read by Holly Black and I was so completely enamored with her writing and the perfectly devilish Cardan and his court. You can read my full review here.img_20181118_092907_7014440661956032641663.jpg

1 .  Strange the Dreamer : by Laini Taylor

This book was so incredibly wonderful and amazing and everything I needed in a fantasy novel. This was my number 1 read of the year and I know it will stay with me for a long time. You can read my full review here.20181229_144451.jpg

2018 was such a great reading year for me! I have big plans for 2019 though, check out my bookish goals post coming later today to see what I want to accomplish across all of my different platforms!
