down the TBR hole

Down the TBR hole #11!

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost In A Story (along with the pretty graphic!) The idea is to help slim down your Goodreads TBR, because we all know how large and endless that list becomes!

How it works:

→ Go to your Goodreads to be read shelf
→ Order on ascending date added
→ Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
→ Read the synopses of the books
→ Decide: keep it or should it go?

My 5 books:Photo_2019-01-29_06-02-08_PM.png

  1. The Stranger in the Woods : by Michael Finkel
    • Oh my goodness the synopsis of this has me rolling. This one is about a twenty year old that disappears into a forest in Maine and goes over three decades before speaking to another human again and lives in the forest by stealing from over 1,000 homes? Apparently the author is kind of shady though and I just don’t know about this story.
      • Judgement: GO
  2. The Secret Wife : by Gill Paul
    • This is a historical fiction romance that takes place in 1914 Russia and also in 2016. I’m just so not into historical fiction or romance that I have no interest in keeping this on my TBR.
      • Judgement: GO
  3. Astrophysics for People in a Hurry : by Neil deGrasse Tyson
    • S C I E N C E ! I love science, I am actually a scientist! So I am 100% going to keep this on my TBR and also I love Neil deGrasse Tyson!
      • Judgement: KEEP
  4. The Couple Next Door : by Shari Lapena
    • Yeah I don’t think this is a book for me. This is a mystery / suspense / thriller about neighbors that are supposedly friendly but not actually. I don’t need anymore anxiety than I already have, thanks.
      • Judgement: GO
  5. The Sun Is Also A Star : by Nicola Yoon
    • So we all know I am firmly against YA contemporary / romance but I don’t know, I just don’t think I can let this one go from my TBR. This has such great reviews and the B&N edition with sprayed pages is gorgeous! This one is probably like every other YA contemporary so I won’t bother explaining it.
      • Judgement: KEEP

This week’s Down the TBR hole is over and I am pleasantly surprised I actually KEPT a YA contemporary romance novel! I wasn’t surprised at all that I kept the science book though. I can’t wait to see what’s on next week’s list!

    1. 😱😱 honestly, had I read these when I actually added them to TBR 3 years ago I probably would have enjoyed them! But my life has changed so much and so has my reading preferences unfortunately so a lot of these older books on my TBR are being let go 🙈

  1. I was so scared you were going to kick off either Astrophysics for People in a Hurry or The Sun is Also a Star, but apparently we have pretty similar taste! 😂 I’m also really into science and astrophysics, so I’m hoping to get to Astrophysics for People in a Hurry very soon! And then, of course, there’s The Sun is Also a Star, which just sounds amazing… like you, I’m not normally much of a contemporary reader, but also like you, I just can’t ignore how pretty the cover is, haha. Hopefully it’s better than we’re expecting! 🙂

    1. I’m a Scientist so I totally agree I love science and would never take a Neil deGrasse Tyson book off my TBR! And yeah I’m like 110% not a contemporary reader but I just don’t know, The Sun is Also a Star just intrigues me so much!
