down the TBR hole

Down the TBR hole #13!

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost In A Story (along with the pretty graphic!) The idea is to help slim down your Goodreads TBR, because we all know how large and endless that list becomes!

How it works:

→ Go to your Goodreads to be read shelf
→ Order on ascending date added
→ Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
→ Read the synopses of the books
→ Decide: keep it or should it go?

My 5 books:

  1. Grief Cottage : by Gail Godwin
    • Okay initially I looked at this and was immediately like mehhh this will be a toss but after reading the synopsis I am actually fairly intrigued and think I am going to keep it! This one is a paranormal/fantasy tale of grief, ghosts, remorse, and our own inner demons!
      • Judgement: KEEP
  2. Salt to the Sea : by Ruta Sepetys
    • So I actually owned this book at one point but late last year I sold it to Half Price Books because I just.. can’t. Historical Fiction is just not my cup of tea and this one is all about WWII and tragedy and even though it has phenomenal reviews I just have no interest.
      • Judgement: GO
  3. New World Rising : by Jennifer Wilson
    • I actually remember adding this one to my TBR because I got it as a second book in an Owlcrate box back in 2017 I believe. This is one is dubbed as Divergent meets Mad Max and honestly? I’m slightly over the dystopia phase 🤷‍♀️
      • Judgement: GO
  4. The Darkest Minds: by Alexandra Bracken
    • Hmm I don’t know how to feel about this one? On the one hand it has stellar reviews even after being published for 7 years which to me is amazing. But on the other hand it seems like something I would have enjoyed when it initially was published, during the phase of dystopia that I just mentioned being over. But it has such good reviews. And they made a movie that people really enjoyed. Gah.
      • Judgement: KEEP
  5. The Color Project : by Sierra Abrams
    • If you have been following along with my previous twelve weeks of down the TBR hole then you know I am *generally* against Young Adult Contemporary/Romance. This is no exception.
      • Judgement: GO

When I made the graphic for this week’s post I was actually anticipating this to be a week where I got rid of all 5 books so I’m quite surprised with myself that I ended up changing my mind and keeping two of them!

    1. I actually saw a hardcover of it at Half Price Book yesterday and thought about getting it! I didn’t though because I have SO many other books waiting to be read first.
