The Coffee Book Tag

Another day another blog post not prepared in advance 🤷‍♀️ so here I am at 7:15pm writing my blog post for the day! This one seemed fitting as I just finished a large cup of coffee. Yes, I am one of those people that drinks coffee ALL DAY LONG and I have no shame. It also doesn’t keep me up at night, I could lay down and pass out right now 😬

Anyways, I wasn’t tagged by anyone but I saw this on Meltotheany‘s blog a while ago and decided to give it a try!

Black Coffee : a series that is hard to get into but has hardcore fans

Shadowhunters. God damn this series’ fans are incredibly hardcore and dedicated. There are SO many books and SO many editions of each one. I own all the books but have only read 3, I’m trying. Maybe some day I’ll be able to finish them.

Peppermint Mocha : a book that gets more popular during the festive season

I haven’t read it yet but I saw this past Christmas A LOT of people talking about The Afterlife of Holly Chase. I definitely added it to my TBR but now I feel like I have to wait until Christmas this year to read it!

Hot Chocolate : a favorite childhood book

Definitely Harry Potter. I absolutely loved this series from page one, I remember when the first book was published me and mom sat down together and read it! Very fond memories for me.

Double Shot of Espresso : a book that kept you on the edge of your seat from start to finish

The Illuminae Files! The first time around and even during my reread earlier this month they never fail to make my heart beat a little faster from sheer nerves.

Starbucks : a book you see everywhere

Lately it’s Nevernight! Especially with Darkdawn coming out this year (finally).

That Hipster Coffee Shop : a book by an indie author

Heart of the Fae! I love Emma Hamm’s books and I hope you give them a try! Her Otherworld series is my favorite, they are all fairytale retellings!

Oops, I accidentally got decaf : a book you were expecting more from

Honestly, The Waking Forest. The premise was so promising and that cover is TO DIE FOR. But after reading it, it just slowly let me down with the potential it could have had.

The Perfect Blend : a book or series that was both bitter and sweet, but ultimately satisfying

I thought for a quite a while on this one and I think I’m going with Crown of Feathers. There was a certain that I was personally bitter about but the entire story was so sweet to me? Like, how could people that bond with animals not be a sweet story? Read this book folks, it’s one of my favorites.

Green Tea : a book or series that is quietly beautiful

It’s definitely not a quiet series because it wildly popular but also happens to be my favorite, Strange the Dreamer. It is so beautiful and magical and I love it so much.

Chai Latte : a book or series that makes you dream of far off places

Definitely The Folk of the Air series. I love these books so much and they make me forget that I have to live in the drab mortal world. I wish with all my might I could be whisked off to Faerie.

Earl Grey : favorite classic

The Great Gatsby! I read this in High School (for class, like every other teenager haha) and then again right after college and I loved it both times! I’m actually surprised I don’t own a copy.. 🤔

  1. Omg I loves this post idea!!!
Shadowhunter fans are so engaged! It’s really impressive! Almost as Harry Potter fans 🙂 (emphasizes on the “almost”)

The Dark Artifices is by far the best she’s ever written though… it’s really good!

  2. Great Post! I totally agree about Shadowhunters. I abandoned TMI after 3 books and I recently finished reading The Infernal Devices which was better but the ending kind of spoiled it for me.

I am seeing Crown of Feathers everywhere. I will add it to my TBR!

    1. I got through the first Infernal Devices book and while it was better I happened to listen to the audiobook and I just couldn’t get into the second one. Suddenly there was 2 narrators that switched on and off RANDOMLY not even at chapter or emulating different characters. Just in the middle of a paragraph. Ugh. If you read Crown of Feathers I hope you love it as much as I did!

  3. Wow your pictures are so great! I love the aesthetic. I loved Illuminae and I did not expect to. I was a bit confused at the start but once it got going, it KEPT going. I think I might try to listen to Gemina on audiobook soon because I heard the full cast narration is the tits.
