Today’s prompt is for my favorite books released in the last 10 years! (one for each year!)
While going through lists of the top books of each year since 2009 I have come to realize I haven’t read a lot of the older YA books. I say YA because that’s essentially all I read. So the one’s I picked for the first couple years are so are just my favorites of the books I’ve read! Eek, I feel so behind! I didn’t really get into reading until after college so I’m at a disadvantage before 2013!
2009 : Catching Fire – by Suzanne Collins
This series was so good! And honestly if I remember right this was my first YA series that I read post college (because I read this in like, 2014 I think)
2010 : Mockingjay – by Suzanne Collins
Such a good ending to a great series!
2011 : Daughter of Smoke and Bone – by Laini Taylor
I am preemptively putting DOSAB for 2011, because I haven’t read it but I know I’ll absolutely love it. Strange the Dreamer is m favorite book and I’ve heard DOSAB is even better.. so how could I not love it?
2012 : Throne of Glass – by Sarah J Maas
I didn’t read this series until 2017 but DAMN they’re so good!
2013 : The 5th Wave – by Rick Yancey
I loved this book so much! We just won’t talk about book three though because shhh it could have ended better 🤫
Apparently I’ve never taken a photo of The 5th Wave.. so yeah.
2014 : Heir of Fire – by Sarah J Maas
This is when the Throne of Glass series really started taking off for me, because Rowan. And banter. And just ugh I loved this book.
2015 : Six of Crows – by Leigh Bardugo
The Grisha series also fell a little flat for me but I absolutely LOVED Six of Crows! This book is nothing short of phenomenal.
2016 : Gemina – by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
This one was hard because a lot of good books came out in 2016, the first book in the Illuminae Files came out in 2015 and I wanted to put that but also Six of Crows, ahhhh it’s so hard to choose!
2017 : Strange the Dreamer – by Laini Taylor
MY ONE TRUE LOVE
2018 : The Cruel Prince – by Holly Black
I know this one can be controversial but you know what I LOVED IT AND I HAVE NO SHAME
2019 : Sorcery of Thorns – by Margaret Rogerson
Guys, I am only halfway through Sorcery of Thorns right now and it is already my favorite read of the year! I love Margaret’s books so much, this is so beautifully written and entirely magical. Sorcery of Thorns releases June 4th! ONLY 1 WEEK TO GO!
What are your favorite books over the last decade? Any similar to mine?
